P1 Registration Info

Starting Primary 1 is an exciting milestone for both parents and children! As you prepare for this new journey, here are some important things to know about the P1 Registration Exercise in Singapore.

Who Can Register?

Children born between 2 January 2020 and 1 January 2021 can take part in the

2026 P1 Registration Exercise.

When Does Registration Take Place?

The registration exercise is usually carried out from July to August each year and is done in several phases. This gives families different opportunities to apply for a school place.

Understanding the Registration Phases

The P1 Registration Exercise is organised into phases based on eligibility:

  • Phase 1 – For children who already have siblings studying in the school.

  • Phase 2A – For children whose parents or siblings are alumni, school staff, advisory members, or from a linked MOE Kindergarten.

  • Phase 2B – For children whose parents have contributed to the school or community through volunteering or leadership roles.

  • Phase 2C – Open to all children who have not yet secured a place.

  • Phase 2C Supplementary – A final opportunity for children still without a school placement.

How Do Parents Register?

Registration is done online through the P1 Registration Portal using Singpass.

Only one parent is needed to complete the application process.

Helpful Things to Keep in Mind

  • Parents can only apply to one school per phase.

  • If your child is unsuccessful in one phase, you may try again in the next eligible phase.

  • Distance between your home and the school may matter if the school receives more applications than available vacancies.

  • Balloting may be conducted for popular schools.

Prepare Early for a Smooth Journey

Parents are encouraged to:

  • Explore and learn more about schools early,

  • Understand the different registration phases,

  • Check that their Singpass account is ready,

  • Have the necessary documents prepared beforehand.

Most importantly, enjoy this special season with your child. Starting Primary 1 marks the beginning of many meaningful learning experiences, friendships, and opportunities ahead!
